The Medieval Castle of Limassol is located in the Old Town center. It was founded by Guy of Lusignan in the 12th century and the first mention of the castle was made in the 13th century. The Limassol Castle has been reconstructed many times. Today’s version of it is a result of the changes made in the 19th century during the Ottoman rule and is a kind of kaleidoscope of various architectural styles and objects from different time periods. Visitors can explore the castle’s permanent exhibition about Cyprus’ cultural and historical emergence.
